Harley-Davidson-India headquarters inaugurated

U.S. based bike maker Harley- Davidson, on Thursday opened its India headquarters at Gurgaon, a year after it announced its entry into the Indian market. The company, which has received an overwhelming initial response to the products, looks forward to establish itself firmly in the country.

“The establishment of Harley-Davidson India”s permanent headquarters marks an important milestone for us… With bookings now open, we are looking forward to opening our showrooms and beginning deliveries starting next month, and initiating a new era of motorcycling in India,” Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley- Davidson India said in a statement.

US Ambassador to India Timothy J Roemer was the guest of honour at the event.

The company, which started booking from April for 12 motorcycle models from its 2010 line up to be sold in India, has ranged its products between Rs 6.95 lakh and Rs 34.95 lakh (ex-showroom New Delhi). It will start delivery of the motorcycles from June. It has also launched its accessories for the Indian consumer. Experts believe that the accessories range will be a hit in the Indian market as there is a cult following for the brand.

Harley-Davidson plans to set up dealerships in New Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chandigarh.

Moreover, it is believed that the company will be taking the Indian market very seriously as there is a huge potential to grow in terms of luxury bikes. It may be noted here that Harley is one of its kind bike maker over the globe as all its counterparts offer more sporty bikes while Harley deals in cruisers.
