With equity investments sentiments improving over the last few months, Indian stocks have attracted foreign fund houses with a hefty of Rs 34,300 crore pooling in the markets during the second quarter of this fiscal.

The period between July-September has witnessed a net investment of Rs 34,313 crore in equities by the foreign institutional investors (FIIs), according to data available with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI).

Indian bluechip stocks have given almost 17% of return during the period, which has lured FIIs taking a bullish ride in emerging markets, especially India.

It is learnt that almost half of the FII inflows have come through qualified institutional placements (QIP) and IPOs combined. Analysts believe that the trend of inflows is here to stay over the long term considering the strong dynamics of the Indian economy.

The total cumulative FII inflow in 2009 has crossed the $10 billion level during September 2009. It is estimated that Indian markets have given a return of 19% during the July-September period.
